So these are all feminine nouns. And Krishna is saying that among these feminine nouns, from the feminine nouns in general, these seven represent Him. This chapter is Vibhuti Yoga.
Vibhuti Yoga means that Krishna, in order to help us think of Him, He is telling us that whatever it is that attracts us in this world that is a spark of His opulence. And that is why He is giving us a sample of the best things in the material world and telling us that they represent His opulence. So it is not that He is them; rather, He is represented through them. His opulence and glories are represented through them. On one level, these represent feminine nouns; at another level, the Vedic culture understands that underlying everything in the cosmos is personality and personal aspects.
So, whatever good qualities we have, they come to us as a result of the blessings of the Supreme Lord manifested through particular personalities, who are in charge of those qualities under the jurisdiction of the Supreme Lord.
Just like we have the Prime Minister, and under him we may have the Finance Minister who looks after the particular department of finance, so like that, there is the Supreme Lord who is the Prime Minister and then there are these assistants, the demigods, who are like the cabinet ministers who have particular portfolios. So, Saraswati is the goddess of learning and whenever a person is learned, that person is considered to be blessed by mother Saraswati.
Srila Baldeva Vidya Bhushan, one of the great acharyas who, in his commentary on Bhagavad Gita, called Gita Bhushan, explains that these seven are deities. For example, vak, the power of speech, is a very powerful deity and she is often equated with Sanskrit language because Sanskrit language has so much procedurality and precision that it can practically represent everything that you may want to speak as much as possible for any language to convey the affairs of the heart in words and speech and in writing, of course.
So like this, these seven are deities and Krishna is telling that there are so many feminine personalities who are presiding over different qualities and among all these feminine deities, these seven are especially conducive for spiritual advancement.
And they are also conducive for the mode of goodness. People aren't very intelligent because they're thinking they are this body. This is the problem. And generally, women are more "into" their bodies; they worry about their hair, makeup, dress, etc. They're valued for their beauty and consider themselves worthy only if they are beautiful, by one standard or another. Very few really escape this misconception.
This is less intelligent. This thinking is more common in women—at least it has been in the past—but men are catching up On the spiritual path, however—once someone has begun to take Krishna's service seriously and is strictly following the prescribed vows and rules—then Krishna is equally available to everyone, regardless of their karmic qualification. We get our bodies, intelligence, wealth, beauty, etc, due to previous karma and so having a women's body can often be problematic.
Problematic also is having a stupid body, ailing body, ugly body, etc. These things can make it difficult for us to progress outside of the material consciousness. Being born in Kali Yuga is a difficulty in itself as people are "lazy, misguided, unintelligent and prone to quarrel over nothing" Srimad-Bhagavatam However, this difficulty may also inspire us to leave this unfavorable material situation and get serious about looking for something better.
Furthermore, by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu 's mercy, spiritual life in Kali-yuga is made easier for everyone by offering the opportunity to chant Hare Krishna and serve the Lord in simple devotional activities. Since I am a woman I will make some effort to answer, please forgive me if I'm unable ;- These types of statements appear here and there in various books.
They are happy. Women have the ability to restore the dharma where as men do not. The second type will bring out the best qualities in a man.
Women also had the great ability to sacrifice. Men want to take and then give but women have the ability to give first. Women were also better at forgiving. They were able to let things go. Today women want to keep count. So these are all the reasons why women have become obstacles but only women have the power to change this.
A man cannot change a woman but a woman can change a man. Men also have a job to do. They must respect a woman. A real man will always seek blessings by prostrating before her. He will want her to be happy by following dharma. Be a good example to your children by respecting her and making her happy through dharma. If you give up dharma things will never go right for you. Men must help women to change them by respecting them. In turn a woman will not look to a man to fulfil her desires because she will already be happy.
Whether you are eight or eighty this will work. It will work for everyone in your family. When you follow dharma you will experience love, purity and glory. Bhagavad Gita Summary — Are women an obstacles to men in the path of spirituality?
