What is the significance of disneyland

Disney is expensive. And stressful. And exhausting. And so so magical. This is still my favourite post by you, Casey. There is just something about Disneyland that will never be able to be replicated. Jennifer, thank you. That means so much to me. I understand the rough days very much. Hence, my frequent Disneyland trips.

I love this so much! Our trip is in less than 3 weeks and the sounds of Disneyland BGMs have been filling our house, the countdown is on the chalkboard and our kids have started behaving just a little bit better as we anticipate the excitement of this trip. Life is hard, go to Disneyland. Only problem is, I cry with joy every time I see anything Disney. Watching the Disney parks show on Christmas Day and I was bawling! So embarrassing. However, this article sums up the exact reason why- innocence, happiness..

Wow, what an amazing article. Disneyland fills my heart with so much joy, I was wiping away a tear at the end of this post. Thanks so much for your dedication to and love of Disney! Thank you Casey for a lovely article. I finally visited for the first time at age 20 and understood what she meant. I always tear up on that riding thinking of her as she passed away 10 years ago.

Thanks for all your tips — keep up the great work! This was perfectly written. It brought visions of the past 2 times taking my daughter and the few times I went with my mom. Disneyland is a place where the present meets the past with joyful looks to the future! Hi Casey, We met you in Fantasyland yesterday evening and just wanted to say thank you for spending the time with us, to share some new facts about Disneyland.

You were kind and gracious and sweet and we loved talking to you. We had a wonderful time experiencing the magic of Disney — Thanks for all the tips and advice…. I like to see the positive side for once. I can certainly relate to this article.

He did not want to go.. We have been back 3 times in the last 4 years and I am planning again for as I want to wait for Disney Springs to be complete.

Also have a tear while waiting for the magical express to come pick us up and take us to the airport. How well written. As we walk under the bridge each time we feel like we have returned to OUR playground, ready for new adventures in the places we have seen countless times before.

As I leave each time, I take a minute to stop at the statue of Walt and Mickey to think about the happiness he has brought to my family.

He has provided a positive influence that has helped bond the 36 of us like no other. At the end of each trip it is hard to leave without wiping away a tear of gratitude and sadness at leaving while hoping for a quick return.

Many had expected Captain America and Thor to move to another location probably the Starcade after Innoventions closed yesterday. Hey, Gerry. Cast members have all hinted at something amazing coming. Wish I knew what! LOVE this! Experiencing Disneyland with my daughters is nothing short of magical. Nothing but love for this magical place.

So very blessed to have grown up here, worked as a CM for a few years and now take my kids often as Annual Passholders to pass the tradition. Well said and thank you! Seriously the best two years of my life! Nothing but fun, fun and more fun. I have retained more friendships from that time than from high school…all good! All of this is perfect!! I would love at Disney if I could. You explained the appeal wonderfully. What a great article! This an inspired piece of work!

You have managed to capture everything any Disney lover would say from their hearts about the parks they love. I LOVE this! And I completely agree with every word.

Our parents took us many times while we were growing up, and now that we have 5 kids of our own, we have taken them all once after a VERY long 8 year hiatus and hope to go late this year again. This is exactly the feelings I get at Disney this is why we choose this place as our family vacation place every time…. Where else in this sad messed up crazy world can we feel like everyone is happy full of hope and joy???

No where but Disney???? This is an amazing article!! He began to envision a cleaner theme-based park where families could become a part of the magical world that his films depicted on the big screen. In , he assembled a small group of artists and designers from his Walt Disney Studio staff and created a new company called WED his own initials to help make his amusement park dream a reality.

Walt and his brother and business partner Roy Disney obtained funding to construct the new venture from ABC, one of the three major networks then in existence, in exchange for creating and hosting an hour-long weekly television show.

The resulting program, Disneyland TV , promoted his new park and his persona of the beloved "Uncle Walt" to the largest generation America had ever seen: the Baby Boomers. The Boomers may not have been old enough to drive the family car, but they could drive family spending. Disney was gambling that in the flourishing, post-WWII economy, American families would have extra disposable income to spend on travel and entertainment, and Disneyland would become a tantalizing destination.

On July 17, , Disneyland had its invitation-only opening day gala, which was broadcast live on ABC. Nearly half the American population watched the festivities from the comfort of their own living rooms. Eleven thousand people were invited to the park; several thousand more arrived and tried to get in with counterfeit tickets. The day was filled with record-level heat and mishaps — Fantasyland was closed by a nearby gas leak, and Mr.

Toad's Wild Ride succumbed to an overload of the park's power grid — but Walt Disney was ecstatic. Disneyland means so much to me, as it has been part of my life for the better part of 5 decades. It has brought me immeasurable joy and happiness over the years, and has been rewarding in ways I never could have imagined.

As enchanted as I was with the park as a small child, I love it and appreciate it even more now. You never know what someone is going through, and what it means for them to be in the park that day.

Perhaps someone is enjoying one final trip to Disneyland with a terminally ill friend or family member. Perhaps someone who has just survived a life-threatening health issue is celebrating being alive with a trip to their favorite place.

Perhaps Disneyland is the place where an estranged father and son finally bond for the first time. Perhaps a trip to Disneyland helps a shy, depressed person come out of their shell and meet new people. You just never know what being at Disneyland means to someone, or the impact that it has on them. Happy 65th birthday, Disneyland!

I remain hopeful that you will soon be able to welcome us through the gates once again. Disneyland has been an oasis from everyday life for years. In recent years some of the expansions are more of a mixed bag. Changing tastes and social standards affected not just cast members, but the attractions themselves. The park opened in with 18 ticketed attractions. Pirates of the Caribbean caved to political correctness, with wench-chasing pirates now chasing young maidens carrying plates of food, making them gluttonous, not lustful.

Jungle Cruise skippers were forced to hang up their holsters in , only to return the guns this year in a nod to nostalgia. It blends the ride with a shoot-'em-up video game, and allows people at home to play along, online. At the end of the ride, photos can be e-mailed home or to friends. In the s, one of the few representations of blacks was an Aunt Jemima greeting diners at her Pancake House.

As a result, political protesters found Disneyland the perfect stage because its Utopian backdrop contrasted starkly with such social problems as war and discrimination. Among the memorable incidents: the summer invasion of Yippies — members of the counterculture Youth International Party founded by Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin.

Eighteen were arrested, mostly for gate crashing or disturbing the peace. It was great social protest, great street theater and it was fun to shake up the Disney establishment. For Japanese Emperor Hirohito, a visit to Disneyland and photo with Mickey Mouse — broadcast live to Japan — helped reshape his image from military man to aging grandfather, and cemented Japanese infatuation with all things Disney.

Even Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev clamored to visit Disneyland in — and threw a temper tantrum when denied entry by U. Do you have rocket launching pads there? Is there an epidemic of cholera? Have gangsters taken over the place? The Disney marketing team exploited that notion, and took it one step further — suggesting in an advertising campaign launched in that a day at Disneyland was the most fitting reward for a sports championship.
