Welcome to Chroma Gel! Login Create Account. Shopping Cart. Gel polish is of course extremely long-lasting. We want you and your clients to get the most out of your gel polish, so we've gathered some top tips to make sure lifting doesn't happen and the gel polish lasts as long as possible.

Cleanse the nail After you have buffed the client's nails you'll need to cleanse them with antiseptic cleanser. The reason being is, any dust and debris caused by the buffing needs to be removed. If it stays under the gel polish then you might get lifting. Use primer and a bonder Before you apply the gel polish you're going to need to dehydrate the nails using primer.

To do this simply brush on the primer with a clean nail brush or lint free wipe and then let it dry. If you have a problem with lifting, try switching up the base coat. IBD base coat is usually good for removal, but bad for lifting. Make sure you properly prep and paint your nails. If you forget any steps like cleansing or buffing it can definitely cause lifting.

Also, make sure you paint the nails properly. See how to do gel nails for more information. When painting your nails, avoid the cuticles and nail edges.

There is no easy way to do this except practice. Actually, you can also use a thin brush dipped in acetone to clean up the cuticles and nail edges, but practice definitely helps. Use very thin coats when using gel polish. Thick coats can cause lifting, or if you are like me, they cause picking. But, even if you are better than me, the thick coats can also cause lifting.

I usually cap the free edge last, then go back over the rest of the nail to make sure all the gel polish is smooth at the tips. Sometimes, the quality of your lamp can cause lifting. If you have a cheap lamp, try a better one. And now for another lamp problem that can cause lifting, your UV lamp bulbs may need to be replaced.

When UV bulbs are dying, you may have problems with curing and lifting. Gel polish removal requires acetone, which can dry out the nails. You should definitely apply cuticle oil and hand cream after removal. Make sure that your acrylic beads are a medium-wet consistency; they should be creamy and very pliable.

Press the acrylic into the nail to help the bond take place. Finally, when performing your finish filing, make sure that you really seal the edges of your product to prevent any further opportunities for lifting.

The nail plate must be clean of surface contaminants and overgrown cuticles. I like to use a diamond bit with an e-file set at its lowest speed to remove the cuticle from the nail plate.

I find that this technique works better and more thoroughly than a pusher. When it comes to application, work on one finger at a time. First, mega- dehydrate the nail, then apply primer and finally apply the nail product. Once that nail is complete, move to the next one and perform the three steps.

It may take a little longer, but it will help ensure a completely dry nail plate for the best product adhesion. Dec 20th,
